I recently purchased the Endura pocketknife.

Unfortunatly I have no experience sharpening knives. My sharpening was done by my dad but he only have a basic understanding. With such a nice knife I would like to do it right.

If anyone can explain a procedure for sharpening this knife and what would be needed I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Valiant
I reckon you'll get lots of replies telling you to get a Spyderco Sharpmaker. It's an excellent bit of kit which will make maintaining an edge on your Endura really easy. Wish I'd bought mine years ago.........
Otherwise there are lots of forumites here who know a lot about sharpening and a search should bring up lots of sound advice. And if all else fails you can always return your knife to Spyderco and let them sharpen it for you.

If you're talking about the serrated version, you need a serrated sharpener, like the sharpmaker. the triangle ends get between the serrations. Lansky makes a crock stick for the Spyderedge, if the sharpmaker is too expensive. Good choice- I still carry my 6-year old endura regularly.--Joe

Lots of advice on sharpening. To be honest, unless your willing to learn how to sharpen free hand, pick up a 204 sharpmaker. If it's a serrated edge it's almost a necessity unless you get really good at free hand, but then you still need a serrated sharpener.

sharpening on the 204 sharpmaker is great, but I think learning the bench sharpening is nice.
Altering the angle of the bevels on a bench stone is much faster than the 204 because the stones aren't really rough.
If you just want to keep your Endura sharp, look at the 204 for now.
