Hello y'all,

So, I have a Benchmade OTF that has an unsharpened swedge. Where I live, there are no restrictions on double-edged knives, and I would like to sharpen the swedge. What would be the best way to go about doing this? I have access to a belt sander, as well as a grinding wheel, although I hope it won't be necessary. Additionally, what would be the best way to add a sharpening choil to this secondary edge?

Thanks,

You would sharpen the swedge as you would any other edge. Which BM OTF?
It's a Benchmade/HK Epidemic. You understand that by swedge, I mean that it is not already sharpened, but only ground before stopping at a flat spine?

There is no advantage to sharpening the swedge. The angle is too steep to get really sharp, anyway.

I haven't handled that specific knife but from viewing it ... sharpening the swedge may also weaken the tip considerably ... not much benifit to it.

Grind a new edge along the unsharpened side to complete the dagger. Just as you would any other edge.

Any recommendations on doing this with a small belt sander? Additionally, any recommendations on grinding a sharpening choil? Never done this before.
