Sharpening the Tomcat

This forum has really picked up lately...lots of good threads in here...could that be due to Bobby B's induction into the SOG moderation world?;)

Anyway here's my question. How are you guys both touching up and re-profiling your Tomcats?

It's such a thick blade and with the recurve I would think it would present some trouble. My Tomcat is running on a about 2.5 years old now but it sort of took a backseat to my AFCK for that period of time. But now that the AFCK is retired 'Tommy' gets to see a little more action. I have a Spydie sharpmaker so I think that may be sufficient for touch ups...BUT...what if I let it get beyond that point...what is an effective way to re-profile a recurve blade with that type of thickness?

ps. Ron is my Tomcat made from AUS 6 or 440A...I've seen them listed as both of these...
 
The Sharpmaker will do a GREAT job of keeping your (my) Tomcat good-n-sharp. If you DO let it get TOO DULL, then you might have to look into the diamond hones for your Sharpmaker.

The Tomcat IS AUS-6, eventho' SOG does show it as 440A in the catalog.

As a fellow owner of the Tomcat, I too am anxious to hear some tips ;)
 
I had mine BC coated to make it last longer between sharpenings...:D
