Back in the good old days: I could easily get a shaving edge on my knives with an F. Dick steel.
But these new steels have me wondering if my honesteel can still do the job.
What sharpening system are you using on stuff like S90-V?

Thanks!
Are there any particular sharpening setups that you would suggest?

Edge Pro Apex and most often an inexpensive set of diamond stones from a dealer I don't think I should mention. If I want a mirror edge I'll finish with a high Shapton or Chosera stone on the EP.

I use an Atoma 400, Atoma 1200, Dan's Whetstone Black, and a loaded strop - on M4, S30V, S110V, K390, M390/20cv, 154CM, SK5, VG10, 1095, A2, O1, D2, 52100, and everything in between with excellent results.

Diamonds are the only way to go. My time is worth more than the cost of the diamond plates and they cut the edge which reduces the likelihood of edge fatigue from repeated passes on old stones.

Thanks! It's time to start working on my Christmas Wish-List!

I love my Wicked Edge diamond stones and my DMT when I feel like freehand sharpening. Diamonds are becoming man's second best friend. Dogs will always be number 1 on most men's list.

Diamonds are a knife steel nerd's best friend. I use a cheap Sharpal dual sided diamond stone for most of my sharpening, for all steels from 1095 up to s90v. I have a 220 grit DMT diamond stone glued to a 1x2 wood block for reprofiling and heavy damage work. Spyderco Medium and Fine for when I want finer edges than 1200 grit diamond (which is suprisingly toothy). Have a leather strop with 7 micron diamond paste for certain knives (my Beckers mostly).

Pretty affordable, and effective, setup.

Ultrasharp 600 plus Sharpmaker has handled every steel of mine effectively. About $100 total in today's prices and a minimal number of steps to the process.

Diamonds cut everything, so that's what I've settled on...no need to worry about carbide makeup/content.
