I have started work on a sharpening thread for all the hogs and piglets that is new to sharpening their piece of Infi, so far i have pics and some text ready to cover Waterstone,Small ceramic stone, Ceramic stick, DMT, Stropp and small belt grinder. I will hopefully get this thread done and posted within a few days but if there is any questions some of you might have about sharpening or suggestions on other stuff i should cover in the thread please post it here and i will try to address it as best i can.

The sharpening thread's purpose will be to save us some typing every time a sharpening question is asked. :D

Sounds great thank you for putting it together ! I know I'll be on there when its posted. I'm pretty good at sharpening all my none INFI blades. But I'm skeptical on sharpening my INFI so looking forward to some advice, been leaning toward strop for them. And now I have a SR and a SY is inbound ugh :) I've always used traditional methods for sharpening like my razor-edge system. Will you discuss systems like edge pro or razor edge ??

I don't have any systems like the ones you mention but i have tried a couple so i will be discussing them a little bit since a lot of guys seem to be using them these days. But the main focus will be on free hand sharpening.

Can't wait got a couple that need a little edge TLC :)

Great idea bro. I prolly ghetto sharpen:p

I do a lot of guerilla sharpening :D ,,,, Goes something like this, Me: Aaaaarrrggghhhh !!! give me that dull knife. Dude: huh what? Me:give that knife,i can't stand looking at you using something that dull. Dude: ok. Then i proceed to pull out a DMT and sharpen his knife.

Spyderco Sharpmaker + followed by Leather strop with white compound + and then green compound = Light Sabre

I do this all the time. Have friends that are mildly into knives, everytime I see them I end up going home with a pocket full of knives to sharpen. Not cuz they ask but becauses I hate seeing them carry around a pocket utensil.

I've never had the patience for sharpening large blades freehand or on a guided system. I'll not push a brand, but belt sharpeners are the way to go on anything larger than a 4" blade. Factor in that many Bussekin come with angles MUCH steeper than 40 deg inclusive, and you're talking much time and pain/frustration to get a consistent and complete bevel on ceramic/stones.

Don't forget sandpaper on a backing. Most of my best edges coke from sandpaper. Even when I sharpen on my belt sander, I often finish by hand on higher grit paper.

And stropping...

As a rookie, I'm sure its all out on the web but, I'd like to see the different type of edges, blade profiles and suitable uses for each, maybe recommendations for which of the bussekin each is best suited for along with how to establish and maintain that keen edge...lots of pictures. More pictures than words...

If this post doesn't make any sense, its late and I may or may not be inebriated, so drink until you understand.

I have been really happy with my Wicked edge, even on my longer blades. I was able to reset the bevels the way I like. I am sure the Edge Pro is also good, I just have not used it...yet. Takes a lot longer that the belt sander or paper wheels, but I really like the edge it produces.

I see someone beat me to it, wet/dry sandpaper and mousepad backing is tha bomb for convex edges...
