I recently got a second hand wegner-the knife is great, but the point of it has been dulled-I was wondering how to get the tip "pointy" again. I have a sharpmaker and a lansky.
any tips or help would be much appreciated.
thanks in advance,

Hi Derek. If you want a very sharp point. Use the Sharpmaker on the flat sides of the stones, sharpen the point only and stop the stroke on the stone...don't come off of the stone.

While I have always been a fan of my 203 Sharpmaker, I recently was introduced to Japanese Waterstones. I had an old mini-AFCK with a chip near the very tip...going through the various grits of the waterstone set got the knife really sharp...but it was more labor intensive. If you can, I'd give the waterstones a try.
