My goto method for producing an aggressive 'sticky' edge. It works very well for high wear resistant steels.

Spyderco GB cpm-m4
DMT extra fine (~9 micron)
Home made diamond stones: 3um, 1um, 0.5um, 0.25um, 0.1um

Thanks for watching this 14.5 minutes video. Feedbacks are appreciated.

Nice technique, like the multi-directional passes - presumably to keep the burr to a minimum? Do you find it changes or imparts any distinct cutting characteristics when the edge is fresh?

Thanks for taking the time.

I love watching other people's techniques. I always learn something.
I only get down to the EF DMT and some spyderco ceramics and plain leather strop.
I need to get more dedicated.
Thanks for the lesson!

Multi-directional passes were carried over from my failed attempts in scrupture the edge tooth into 3-D convex. Think of a shark tooth, except oval/convex & tight-spaced. The resulted edge seem to mitigate edge roll better, teeth top bent into gaps, to preserve a working edge longer. lol - or could be nothing but a placebo.

I want a grail stone with correct mix of binder & abrasives attributes, holy scrupture edge :p

Cool video. I am interested in the homemade stones. How did you make them?

Drop & rub some water to the glossy/print side of inkjet photo paper (255gr/m^2). Spread diamond suspenion or paste, use a metal rod or blade to roll/strop really hard to embed the diamond into clay. Dry for a day.

If using edge-trailing stroke, this stone (ok a piece of diamond paper) will last a long while. For edge-leading, I usually cut it up in a few months. np, for me though, I've a few litres of diamond suspension.

Thats a great idea. Sounds like a project I might have to try.
