Sharpening woes solved

A month or so back I posted asking about sharpening supply recommendations and my lack of ability in sharpening one of my Busses. I bought strops, veritas compound and ceramic rods (already had a Sharpmaker).
I tried for about a month and still couldn't have even cut myself with it no matter what I tried. I was ready to try grinding and figured I'd probably ruin it. So I finally broke down and sent it in to have it sharpened. I also asked if it could have a symmetrical grind put on it instead - figured even I would be able to successfully use my Sharpmaker on it the next time. When I sent it off I was thinking that it would probably be quite a while till I saw it again. Boy was I wrong - I saw on the tracking report that they got it at about 11 am on Thursday and I had it back at about the same time on Saturday  Just wanted to let anyone who's hesitatating about sending one in because they don't want to be without their's for long not to worry. By the way it is shaving sharp now.

I believe that it is the convex grind. I hope to keep the edge in good shape so that it doesn't end up as far gone as it was before:rolleyes: Maybe I should consider some of those diamond rods for my sharpmaker - just in case.
