by the way thank you everyone for helping my blades are sharp but not enough once i get a burr should i strop on my stone to work it off or should i work the other side til its gone

I usually run the edge over a piece of soft wood. That takes the burr off for me. Then I'll strop away!

There's a very good "sticky" on top this category page. Knife sharpening what's it all about. Very informative everyone should read it!

i have i build up a burr work it off and i cant even cut my finger!!!!

From your first post, after you work up a burr, you need to turn the blade over and work the burr up again on the other side. Then look and feel to make sure you have a burr along the entire edge. Then gently and with light pressure work the burr off as best you can with your stone, all the time holding a constant angle.
After the burr is gone as best you can get it, and there are no shinny spots showing under a bright light along the edge, then gently use the strop to refine the edge. Again maintaining the previous angle while stropping. It is also a good time to read the "sticky" about stropping. You can improve or destroy a sharp edge with the strop. It is just as critical as the stone work, and can not work wonders on a dull blade. The blade should be able to shave hair before the strop.
Keep at it, and with practice it will "click" for you and success will be yours!

Blessings,

Omar
