I have a pair of older knives that were
recently given to me and one in perticular, the edge is in desperate need of reshaping. I would attack the project myself but I'm afraid I would screw it up.
If someone would be willing to lend me their sharpening services I would be greatful.
See the knife is like a family hearloom that has been passed around sence the 50's (I think??) It was finaly given to me and I want to be able to use it to field dress my deer this fall, like it has been used every year in memory.
Any help or direction there of will be greatly appreciated....

Hi Chris:
I would love to work on your knives if we were located closer. Making a knife razor sharp is close to ecstacy for me?? I dont know how far gone your knives are, but I would recommend the "lansky" or "Gatco" sharpening kits. They work very well as they keep the angle correct for you. There are, of course, many other quality kits out there, but the two I mentioned, are the ones I have experience with. I use the "Gatco" kit, as the stones are a little wider & I find easier to control. The other important thing as that you take the steel away from the cutting edge. It makes the edge last longer. These kits will do that.
