I need some advice on what to purchase for sharpening and where to get them. I already have a good steel rod, I just need a medium stone, a fine stone, and some blade angle guides. I have a Razor-Edge catalog- any thoughts?
Also, what's a good instructional video for basic sharpening techniques? I seem to be having some trouble getting a really good edge that lasts.

I have one of Razor's Edges kits and the book. The video is worth it's weight in gold! I now use a 204 Sharpmaker, unless I need to remove a lot of metal to thin out a bevel. If I hadn't gotten the RES products, I would still be trying to get a decent edge using a Sharpmaker. That's when I still use the RES set. I recommend their stuff wholeheartedly, but especially the book and video.

If you're a complete klutz like I am, go for the Spyderco Sharpmaker.

I've tried all, and I mean ALL of the systems and the only one that's worked for me is the Sharpmaker.
