I am relatively new to the knife world and I purchased a knife with s35 steel. I am wondering what is the best sharpening stone and if I need anything else to sharpen it with?

Hi whatever stones you decide upon, make sure to get a good strop, if you don't let your knives get really dull and deformed a strop is often all you need. Knivesplus has a decent one preloaded with compound you can buy if you don't want to worry about anything. Otherwise just do a little googling. As for stones i use the Norton Set of 220/1000 4000/8000 stones and have been pretty happy, that's a little expensive though around $160. Maybe someone else can give you a better budget option.

Spyderco Double Stuff 2 - ~$50- comes with a leather slip sheath

I sharpen daily with one of these DS2s

These are good for an extremely dull or damaged edge. ~$30
The Spyderco stone is all you should really need though.

Use the fine ceramic as long as it still gets your edge back, go down (coarser) in grit as needed to get the blade sharp.
You don't wanna run through the grits, coarse-fine, every time you sharpen because you'll shave away too much metal too fast, unnecessarily.

They aren’t fancy, and you won’t be getting any hair whittling edges with them, but a old fashioned carborundum stone paired with a fine Arkansas stone has always worked just fine for me

I find diamond hones work best for all kinds of steel, and especially for steels with high carbide content like S35Vn. I have used DMTs for more than three decades. A coarse (220 grit) and a fine or ultra fine (600 or 1200) meet all my sharpening needs.
