Hi i just had a quick question. I sharpen knives for friends and sometimes on the side for a little extra money and i have come across 2 cheap knives with a black coating on the blade that are impossible to get sharp. I use a worksharp Ken Onion edition with the blade grinder attatchment and every other blade gets super sharp but those refused. Why is it so? Can someone help me because i am getting really pissed and my pride wont let me give dull knives back.

Have you gone to burr?

some steels will be a mofo without using diamonds.
I had a benchmade made from k390 that took me days to sharpen by hand. Although it Was the dullest knife I ever saw...... (before)

*don't over heat the blade.

More than likely loads them up with some kind of zinc or aluminum based garbage….

Does a magnet stick to it?

Been there ..
I had I knife that would not sharpen .. The steel that came off that blade was grainy , like little BB's .
I tried and tried , but it simply refused to get sharp .

Do you know what the blade steel is on them? I also have the WSKO with BGA and find it struggles with the high vanadium super steels. Because of that, I exclusively use diamond stones on those steels.
