sharpening?

with a regular flat stone--what is the best technique to sharpen?---and also need some opinions about what the best sharpening product out there is?--thanx all

First off, Welcome to the forums. In regards to your question, some others might be able to tell you how to use a flat stone, But I would recomend you buy a Spyderco Sharpmaker system. They run you about $50 or so. And you can get every knife shaving sharp!! I got one about a month ago and I couldn't be more happier. The use the bunny ear style rods, But know I understand why that style works so well, b/c it gives you the perfect angle on the edge. It also comes with a video and I would dare to say the system is foolproof.

I just got a Sharpmaker nad really like it. Got my run F1 back into shaving condition in no time. Got a deal on mine, local salvage store had them new for $30.
