Received a mini Grip in a trade recently, on the point of being dull but other than that in pretty good condition. 440C, so I didn't think I'd have a hard time sharpening it, even with my noob skills. Put it through a Smiths kitchen sharpener, the D shaped contraption with the handguard. A lot better, stropped it on a ceramic Smiths filet sharpener. Great edge. Stropped it on an old belt, even better. But, not scary sharp. Sharp enough to cut, cut some ratty paracord a friend gave me for lanyards. But, I wanted a shaving sharp edge. So, took it to a buddy of mine, who sharpened it a little more. Not shaving sharp yet. So, I took it and sharpened it on my Smiths diamond hone, about 15 swipes on the carbide side, and about 5 swipes on the ceramic side. Then I used the D guard Smiths again, then I used a Buck pen sharpener for the serrations. This knife is super sharp, but is not hair shaving sharp. I stropped it again, and it is still sharp enough to slice through paracord like it was hot butter. When I rub my thumb pad over the edge, it feels sharp. This is my new EDC until I can get a Ritter mini RSK Mk1 or a Benchmade 707, and I want this knife to be super scary sharp!
Am I just being OCD, did I eff up the knife, should I just leave it alone?
