I am just curious when you send a knife to Buck to get it sharpened, how sharp does it come back to you. I have a Buck Strider 880TX and it didn't come with a very sharp manufacture edge to it. So I am thinking about sending it out to get it sharpened. Also I have heard somewhere Buck might replace the knife with a newer model if the model you send in is discontinued and they don't have the parts to fix it know is there any truth to this.

Thank You

I can't help you a whole lot, but Buck should have any part on hand to fix a knife as recent as an 880TX.

I would imagine they would just sharpen it. If its not exactly broken then there is no need for spares.

Better yet, sharpen it yourself. Most manufacturers' edges are not as good as they could be (although often they're better than many people can manage), and you're not going to send it back every time you use it. Think of sharpening as cheap therapy -- it works for me. Sharp is when you cut yourself and don't notice until you see the blood:D .

Hi REAPER001,

Buck will sharpen your knife for you....I think this service is about $7.00. You did not state that your knife is broken; just that the blade is dull  . Buck dose no send you a new knife if nothing is wrong with it...they would just sharpen your knife and return it.

Now if your knife was broken it most likely would be fixed per their forever warranty. If the knife was broken beyond repair then it would be replaced. If you do send in a knife for repaired work and it has sentimental value and you don't want a replacement knife.....tell them in a letter sent in with your knife. Always be sure to send a note with your knife detailing what you want done to it and your return address!!!!!

And when you send it in, address the package as "BKI" and not "Buck Knives Inc" to minimize the risk of pillage while enroute.

Delivery Confirmation from the USPS is less than a dollar and probably worth it.

But to echo others... you need to know how to sharpen if you dont know. I was sharpening challenged at one point - then I bought a Lansky deluxe. Now its all good and I can put a decent edge on all my knives.
