Sharpie trick?

you draw on the edge of the blade with a sharpie, and run it across the stone, if sharpie on the bottom of the edge is gone then the angle is to steep, visa-versa if the sharpie is gone on the top of the edge, but if all of the marker is gone then you have the correct angle.

To get off the extra ink, above where the material is removed, use rubbing alcohol.
