I have a good selection of knives but really like my ASK as it is stout and I love the handle. It was a cheap surplus military buy.

I was working on the edge today on my water stones and was wondering if I could sharpen this baby like a scandi ground knife. If has the 1/2 bevel from the edge. Scandi blades are easy to index on the stone.

What do you guys think?

Thanks,
tjg

it might take some work to get rid of the bevel, but i would say go for it. i love scandi grinds, and i think it would be worth it.

You'll just wear out the blade, for no real benefit.

On top of all that, the primary grind is probably too thin to support a scandi grind. I have one of these, and I just thinned the edge out a little, and it works great.

Thanks sodak, it can get it sharp. I'll stick to normal sharpening and use the bevel as a back bevel.
