My friend gave me a free bali, but it was very dull. Anyone know what I should buy or use to sharpin it? Other than the blade, the knife is in good condition. Its a Jaguar type one, which he bought in TJ.

I got a Lansky sharpening system for X-mas.
That thing RULES!! I have been putting razor edges on damn near everything...but my cats.

That will work great.
You could always just yse regular sharpening stones, but they don't seem to give as good of an edge.

Hi, and welcome to the Bali-Forum. Any of the Jig-Type sharpening systems will work for you..., but you didn't mention what sort of knife your friend "gave" you??? If it's a high quality Balisong.., take it to a "Pro" if you haven't sharpened knives before.

Even the sophisticated sharpening systems take some practice to get good at it, and if the knife is really nice you don't want to sacrifice it to the "Learning Curve"....good luck!

The Lansky Diamond system is great for reprofiling that dull or dinged blade. There after, the Spyderco Sharpmaker is great for maintaining that "bone cutting" edge.

I've been using the Lanksky diamond system for years. If your looking for something cheaper go to www.eknifeworks.com they have a regular lansky system w/3 stones for @$22.00. Hope this helps.

I just switched to the Razor Edge system and love it. I'm not getting rid of my Sharpmaker cause I still have serrated blades but I dumped my Lansky to my little brother instantly. I even got it to sharpen my "Chinese Sidewinder" which is a small (well maybe not so small) miracle. Today I did my Jag (that has been lost for months in my Emergency Egress Backpack (EEBP) and it worked great. And the kit only cost ~25 bucks.
