Hi, i know that CRK recommend and advice the tri-angle sharpmaker.
I know that most of you use this system for the maintenance of the edge, so i've got several questions :
* actually i use the Lansky system, it works well but it takes a lot of time to keep the convex shape of the edge(, you must rig the rod a lot of time on the stone to convex the edge), is it easier with the tri-angle sharpmaker ?
* are the results also good than with the Lansky sharpener ?
* which model must i choose?
* is it a waste of money?
Thanks for your thoughts and replies.

It isn't designed to do convex edges. You could in theory alter the angles a few time by putting something under one side of the sharpmaker and then the other.
The best way I find to do convex edges is using a mouse pad and abrasive paper (I have some which is finer then the white sharpmaker stones) and use a stropping action. I then give it two strokes down each side on teh sharpmaker to give it more bite.

not used a lansky but everyone I know who's used both uses the sharpmaker far more. You can get very very good edges with the sharpmaker

No you can use it on loads of knives and even bigthings like kukri can be sharpened with the rods freehand
