OK first off,I tried the search engine and got a blank screen. On to the question. Can I use a Spyderco sharpmaker on a Bark River convex edge? Thanks in advance.

Is the Sharpmaker considered the Rolls Royce of knife sharpeners? How does it compare to CRKT's sharpener? I'd think it would be better because of the stone shapes. The CRKT stones are round, not triangular.

Already got the sharpmaker, been using one since 1986. I will go get some sandpaper if I have to,though.

I have the Sharpmaker....I retired it for mouse pad and sandpaper. And since I got hooked on Bark River Knives, I use leather and Bark River compound.

I am amazed how easy the convex edges are to maintain.

I will be ordering some Bark river compond in a couple days, off some nice guy in Oklahoma, knife dullish now though. Also I think I am gonna get me a mini north star,

Yes, I'm interested as well. Why is sandpaper and a mousepad better than one of those flat, diamond thingies with the holes in them? I got one of those recently and it sharpened my larger knives much faster than my Sharpmaker.

Haven't tried my CRKT much because I just can't get the motion down smoothly. I need to practice.

It works if you coddle it. Please read Sticky: Search Engine FAQs & Tips

For those of you who use strops with the Bark River compound, where do you get the compound? I'm having a hard time finding it online.

I think leather stropping develops a convex edge with a polished finish, probably the sharpest edge possible.

Amazingly enough,I have achieved sharpness just by stropping my Aurora. Just took a little while. yeehaw!

Yes, the 15 degree setting should be close to the apex angle. You can also freehand the curvature if you set the rods in the base and use it like a benchstone.
