Hi, i know these are available but i have not read any in-depth reviews of these stones. How long does it take to reprofile a dull blade? Also, do the diamonds come loose or fall out after a certain amount of use? Any extended use reviews?

I saw the diamond sleeves at the Denver knife show. They look to work real well. Some guys on the forum here have given them good reviews.
Myself, I wont buy them. I thing they are way overpriced. I picked up a flat diamond hone and a round pencil diamond hone. they didnt cost me any more then 10 bucks apiece.
I laid the flat home up againt the ceramic sticks and followed the angle.
I have a lansky sharpener too, I duct taped a piece of alum rod to the gerber diamond pencil hone and use that in the Lansky guide.
Both ideas are cheap and work great.
I have sharpend several knives with them, One which I made and it had a lot of honeing to do.
I just cant see spending that much money for the sleeves.
Well this is my humble opinion

Hehe, i just bought the Ultra Fine stones from SFO. :) It cost $40 so i dont really mind. I want to get my knives scary sharp. :D The fine will make it razor sharp and will shave hair. :) The factory Delica i have came scary sharp. :D It would slice paper with its own weight, i am talking FRN handle. :D

I did the exact same thing with my sharpmaker using a diamond hone on top of the triangle stones to get the angle, but cut myself 2 times holding the damn thing. :(

Thanxs for your input Jack142.

:)

See Musky I used duct tape. What would life be like without ??
To get my knives real real sharp I use a leather stop. Actually, I been using one made out of manilla folder paper.
there is a really good site to look at to see about strops. I found it though this forum. look arond you will find it.
Good Luck
Jack
