Today I finally got my Sharpmaker in the mail . I also got an appropriate training knife, a large Sebenza, so I do not have to ruin any Spydies with my first attempts
Anyway, I decided to try it with my old SAK first, and was delighted to see that Mr Glesser did exactly the same in the video. And after following the instructions mechanically, more watching the screen than the knife, the SAK was actually able to shave, very nice.
Now I have the problem that I am running out of sharpenable (is that English?) objects, having sharpened all my knives including a WW2 bayonet that was more like a metal stick.
So I am now seriously considering sharpening my cheap souvenir sword, my car key and that remote control made of aluminium (might be useful someday
).
I still have a question regarding serrations though. So far I have always used the Pro-Files to sharpen the serrations one by one. With the 204, won´t they wear off quite easily when you sharpen them long enough like in the manual/video, even with the white stones? Are there any long-term users with experience on this?
Thanks a lot to Spyderco for this useful tool.
Kris
