After reprofiling about the 5th knife to 30 degrees, it's got me thinking -- is there a list of knives that are "sharpmaker friendly" from the maker?

It would sure make life easier if people would keep it in mind when they're grinding knives initially.

Hi Michael. Spyderco has a set of diamond triangles in the works. Should be out early next year.

I heard a rumor to that effect. Put me on the list, I'll defintely buy a set.

I currently rubber-band a DMT 220-grit 4 x 7/8 to one of the triangles. It works, but it's a PIA.

I suppose it goes without saying, but Spyderco is the way to go here. They're ground at 30 from the factory, so you can either keep that agressively thin edge or sharpen at 40 and use the 30 as a backbevel.

Chris Reeve also specifically recommends the 204 for the sharpening of the Sebenza. I think it is the overall 40 degree angle. I've touched up my Sebenza at the 40 degree and it has worked just great.

I was thinking that Spyderco should come out with different bases that have two angles per base,I have the 203 model and its set at 20 degrees.I think the 204 is 15 and 20,maybe have a range from 15 to 24.I know I would be interested.I know when I was looking at Grohmann knifes they said the angle was set at 24 degrees.I suppose this has already been thought of and there is not the profit in it.I sure like the idea of the diamond hone thou.Gordy
