Sharpmaker or Slide Sharp?

I have a Spyderco Sharpmaker which I have never had the chance to use. I've seen write-ups of the CRKT Slide Sharp and it looks good. I need a dummy-proof sharpener, especially with regard to holding the angle. Should I stick with the Spyderco or make a small investment in the CRKT?

I have had poor results with the Lansky and really need something user-friendly.

Both of your choices are fool proof. I guess the CRKT is better if your having alot of trouble keeping the proper angle but I would go with the spyderco for the quality and the portability. I've heard nothing bad at all about either one.

Since you have the Sharpmaker why not try it before thinking about getting something else?

Sharpmaker is a very good and user-friendly tool. I use it for couple month.
Watch DVD and practice, than watch DVD again. It is very easy to use and it makes knives very sharp.
Try it, if you will not like it, sell it on e-bay. But you will love it

I travel around the world a lot. Now stationed in Japan with frequent trips to Philippines. So most of my stuff has been in storage which is why I haven't used the Sharpmaker. To add to my problems I now have the onset of Parkinson's Disease and find it hard to keep a consistent angle without good support. I went ahead and ordered the CRKT because it looked like the easiest for me to use consistently.
