I'm getting one soon, and I read it doesn't do well on saber ground blades. Would it work on my Delica that is saber ground?

My original sharpmaker only had a 40 and I got used to that. Couldn't say about the 30 setting.

Do keep in mind that the Spyderco 204 Sharpmaker is pretty much a finishing tool for the most part. If you have a lot of stock to remove or a really dinged up blade then I would recommend that you do the primary work on a coarse or extra coarse diamond benchstone.

But the 204 Sharpmaker is a great tool for putting razor edges on knives that are already profiled correctly or somewhat sharp to begin with.

Now I do fervently recommend that you also get the Ultra-Fine and diamond Stones that you can buy from Spyderco for the 204 Sharpmaker. There is so much more you can do with those extra stones. But do your reprofiling on an aggressive benchstone it is a lot less aggravating and less time consuming.

Also watch the video/DVD that comes with the unit at least 2 times before attempting to sharpening one of your premium blades. What I did when I first got mine was to practice on some kitchen knives before I did my high dollar blades. You'll be glad you made your mistakes on blades that don't cost a lot. Good Luck

Well, I dragged out the sharpmaker, set up the 30 degree side, and ran the saber Endura down the stones a few times. No problem with the Endura.

Why wouldn't it?

I'm wondering where that comes from too.

I wouldn't worry at all, about saber grinds. A huge number of blades have them, and I've never heard of any issues getting in the way of sharpening them, by any method or tool. One would have to go extremely low in angle, in order to create a situation where the saber grind would get in the way.
