Sharpmaker rods in EP for use on recurves?

Was reading a thread earlier about advice on sharpening a BM 710. I remembered just a few days ago, I saw a post in MT&E of someone putting Sharpmaker rods, flat side down, in their EP arm. I was wondering if anyone has ever put in Sharpmaker rods with the pointed side facing down in a EP to sharpen recurves? Seems like a quicker and more consistent route if you wanted to use the EP stones to sharpen the belly to the tip, then put in the rods to do the recurve.

I found 1/2 round stones not long ago in Edge Pro lengths that would have done the job but I can't find the bookmark now. But they are out there.
Also google "3/4" Wide Shapton Pro Edge Pro Stones" and search from there. I don't want to post any links. Search for 1/2" stones too.
Then there's the method of tipping the stock EP stones and use light pressure to touch up a recurve. Too much pressure on the edges will wear the stones.
Might be easier than fitting SharpMaker rods in the EP. I was "brainstorming" that a few weeks ago then decided to go with narrow EP stones.

That was probably NRA's thread about his FrankenSharp. Yes, he mentioned that you can mount them edge down in the EP arm to do odd shaped blades. He has a pic of a kris style blade that he did that way. Gimme a second to find the thread.

Okay, looks like I was combining a couple threads in my mind. Here he mentions using the corners of the rods to do weird shaped blades: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1160155-Jig-To-Get-Perfect-Use-From-SharpMaker?highlight=kris, and here the same thing is mentioned and there's a vid of the kris blade he did using that method: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1162597-Homemade-Sharpener-Using-KME-SharpMaker-Edge-Pro-Clone-Parts.

edit: Sorry. He said he did the kris on a regular SM, but would try it again using the rod mounted in the EP (my mind is going :D).
