Sharpmaker rods

I have notice som dings on the corner of the fine and ultra fine rods. Does it REALLY MATTER or should I just use the other corners.
 
If you can feel them as the knife passes over them use the other corners. I use the corners with the knicks on the bevel side, not the edge side, since the bevel won't be touching the edge, it eventually smooths out.
