Sharpmaker sharpening

I have a Spyderco Manix 2 in all black and I have the UF rods and standard sharpening rods.
But I'm worried that If I try sharpening my Manix the black coating on the blade might come off from the
Sharpening. Could this happen?

The cutting edge has no coating on it, and should not be of any concern if you use them in the 30 & 40 degree configuration respectively. Make sure you watch and follow the instructional disk/video that comes with the Sharpmaker. It works very well when used as instructed.
