I accidentally dropped one of the brown stones on a stone (slate) floor and I picked up three pieces!

This is NOT a fault of Spyderco, of course, it is a well-known fact that if you drop something, it might break. I am sure it was the particular stone floor that broke the stone, the same way as a glass breaker tip can break a car window. I am only posting this for other users information. These man-made stones are very durable, but they can break given the circumstances.

I had a similar experience with the 203. A piece chipped off when I dropped it.. The ceramic grit is harder than any metal known to man, but is rather brittle... Dropping it on a hard surface may eventually - break it.. Spyderco's Factory Outlet does retail spare grits from your sharpmaker... just email them at sfo@spyderco.com for more details!
