I'm hoping maybe someone here will know a good way to fix them myself before I have to get a warranty thing goin...

I have a 204 sharpmaker that I got for my birthday in May. Recently I noticed that there are some small nicks or bumps on the edges of the stones that the knife edge gets stuck on when sharpening.

I contacted Spyderco and was told I would have to buy replacements  .
I just wrote back asking if there wasn't a warranty on the stones? Or what the deal was in general.

Would rubbing the stones together smooth it out?
Is there a waranty on the stones?
Is there a warranty procedure I need to follow ?

Thanks all,

On the white stones. If they are in fact "bumps", rubbing them with the other stone should smooth them out. If they are "nicks" or "cracks", then that is a warrantee issue and they'll be replaced.

On the gray (brown) stones, the nicks or bumps will wear down in use. Rubbing the area with the other gray stone will speed the process.

Thanks Sal! That's exactly why I buy your stuff :)

I'll pull out the magnifier and double check.

If you aren't happy return it to the seller. Also please don't respond to eight year old threads.
