Sharpmaker

That's a tough one>> I'm not exactly sure of the history of all of Spyderco's sharpening tools. But this is like the second or third model of the Sharpmaker for instance. I can remember them back when I got my first Spyder in 1995 and I think it had been on the market for some time at that point.

I do think that we are going to see the 204 ( the current model) around for some time to come because that model was really refined compared to the previous Sharpmaker model.

Hi Robert,

We introduced the "201" Sharpmaker at the Texas state fair in October of 1978.

I think those 2 previous Sharpmaker models were sold in nylon or cordura wrapping sheaths. I seem to remember one of the really old ones on Ebay a couple of years ago and that's how it was packaged. The 302 stones and the 701 Profiles were also out there for a long time>> well as long as I've been a Spyderhead anyway.

One of their best sharpening tools in my opinion for bigger knives is the Galley V system and you don't see those very often at all. I'm glad I stocked up on stones for that one.

Yes, my 203 came in a nylon pouch.
