Reading this forum caused me to buy a Sharpmaker. I have come to trust most of what is written here. For many years I was perfectly happy with the old Lansky sharpner. Then I read several pieces about the Sharpmaker, clean, easy, etc.
I got mine in yesterday, I was suprised at how quickly I was able to learn how to get a very good edge on knives. I don't think I will miss the oil and the mess.
Thank You Spyderco

Best $45 I ever spent!! And I'm not exagerating. I was one of those guys who could take a fairly sharp knife and make it
child-safe by trying to sharpen it free hand. I couldn't believe how easy it is with the Sharpmaker! I love this thing! I've put a great edge on every knife in the house, plus now I'm the knife-sharpening guy at work. Everyone brings me their knives, usually when they are totally dull, but I'm able to put a great edge back on each and everyone of them.

Thanks, Sal and the Spydercrew!

i use mine quite a bit also..it works on serrated blades, scissors, electric fillet knives, cleavers, hair clipper blades, woodcarving knives, cheap steak knives, ad infinitum...i think i have even used it on a few spydies...good product...and you do get to sharpen everyone elses blades 2

the other day i got a cold steel mini tac and a cricket these are by far the sharpest knives ive seen will i get those results with the sharpmaker and will it look like they have been sharpened

Aye,

Deffinetly sheer simplistic design perfection.

While I had a lansky system, that should for all intents and purposes have kept the angle constant, I frequently found that I would have un-even edges or ruin my efforts with one idel stroke.

Recieved my Sharpmaker last week and could not be happier.
Driving everyone in my house mad sharpening everything I can get my hands on, with my fav edge so far (oh dear :D) being the restoration of my little gerber hatchet :)

Thanks for another excellent product Sal.

I agree 100%...Having a knife but no Spyderco Sharpmaker to sharpen it with, is like having a chunk of bubble-gum, but no mouth to chew it in.:D.

Scarface,

Get yourself a Sharpmaker and learn on some practice knives. After you develop a light and sensitive touch, your knives will be as sharp or even sharper.

Without the Sharpmaker I doubt that my interest in knives would have developed to the extent that it has.
In fact, I would say that I owe my interest to the Sharpmaker.
That says something about the product.
Without it I would never have owned all these Spyderco, Benchmade, Chris Reeve and Fallkniven knives.
You could say that the Sharpmaker has cost me alot more that $45...

:)
