Just got an order style Battle Mistress from one of our esteemed members and it is new and unused but not shaving sharp.
My question is if i send it back to the shop, how long should i expect for turn around time ?
Thanks
Tatoo,
You have to learn to do it yourself! Do a search and you will see that many have asked the same question. Cliff Stamp is the expert. Call the Busse people too!My recomendation is to buy a leather strop with some abrassive compounds. What ever sharpening tool you use make sure you strop that edge at the end!
I can do it myself but was wanting the factory the put that asymetrical edge on it.
Mine has the normal double ground.
I don't have the time or patience to attempt putting that edge on it myself.
I have never received a BM with what I call a "razor" sharp edge... all hair shaving easily enough, but not quite there.... But I don't sharpen them to get them there. I use a leather strop and stopping compound. I have a rotating leather strop on my grinder, but I have used it fixed as well. This brings them REALLY sharp when I have a user knife and I mainly just strop the knife in between uses. I hardly ever sharpen the knife except for a few quick passes on the back side if I have been hacking really nasty stuff.
