Ok, at the risk of being metrosexual, i will tell you that my favorite shaving cream, hands down, is khiel's. 15 bucks a tube, and comes out like toothpaste, but worth every penny-lasts 3 months anyway. Et tu?

Hi, I use conditioner for the hair, and you can get a large amount at Big Lots for about 2 buks.

I use whatever is the cheapest which is usually Barbasol, preferably menthol. A few years ago I tried using shaving soap and a brush which was pleasant enough although a bit inconvenient.

As for being metrosexual, I once posted about doing my own manicures with clear polish. Well in many of my habits I'm a slob, but I do take good care of my nails.

Crabtree & Evelyn, Sandalwood (London) 5.7 oz tub.

About $13 if I recall correctly. Thick, paste-like, has lasted over six months with no signs of running out yet.

Here are the ones I used with my Silvertip Badger brush:

Kiehl's Lite Flite Shave cream for the brush (good, smells a bit like medicine)

Musgo Real (very good, smells like old world cologne, well regarded on Yahoo shaving group)

L'occitane (fair, smells great though)

Geo F.Trumper (good, comes in different scents like sandalwood, lemon, violet).

Wash my face with soap & warm water to soften my beard; then Barbasol ($0.99) thinned out with warm water; leave it on for about 3 minutes; then shave...smooth as a baby's bottom! :D

I use aveeno with soy that supposedly slows beard growth (seems to be working) and is very protective. I follow that up with nivea sensitive atershave balm. Best combo I've ever tried.

Where does one find such things? I don't think I've ever seen shaving soap or anything that comes in a tube.

Marshal fields, The Body Shop, fancy places like that. You can even find some of that stuff at wallgreens and cvs now...

I just started using this and it works great. Because it doesn't lather it leaves your face softer and smoother.
This makes a perfect follow up aftershave too .

Poke around the site, theres a great charcoal body wash that they sell too.

I sometimes use an oil made Lab Series if I want to get a really close shave and have pretty thick beard. I used to use their "tube" cream, but found it rather expensive. Neutragena now make an excellent "tube" cream that you can buy in most supermarkets and drug stores. Much cheaper than the Lab Series stuff, readily obtainable and just as good IMHO.

Well.., I have a beard (not a huge one).., but I've never used anything to shave the cheeks and under the chin stuff.

Never ocurred to me once I grew the beard, but that was about 30 years ago..., so I guess that says it all....

Nivia is making a mens shaving gel that doesnt have that strong aftershave smell and makes the richest lather I have ever used. I think it would work well with a straight razer but havent tried it yet.

Now: Kiehls- Very Good. I still have some Crabtree & Evelyn tube stuff & some l'Occitaine stuff. The local l'Occitaine store @ the mall used to give out samples of the shave cram & after shave balm. Good stuff. I was an Edge gel user for years. It was a good thing if a girl I was dating outlasted the can of Edge. (heck of a thing to measure relationships by, eh?)
