You guys are going to think I'm nuckin futs. I just sharpened my CF,ZDP, Calypso. I got it so sharp it would whittle my arm hair, I'm talking about holding the hair between my fingers and I could split the hair right up the middle.
So I figured, I'm gonna see if this thing will shave. So I lathered up a portion of my face and holding my skin taut I shaved with my knife. I went real slow at first, but once I learned the angle to hold it at, and direction, it was fairly easy.
I'm not going to make a habit of it but it's made me a big believer in ZDP-189.

I believe it. The sharpest knife I found was my Adventura. I could shave with that one out of the box, I just stropped it on my sleeve a few times first.

Makes a change from all the bald patches on arms and legs after sharpening knives! Actually, your story reminded me of a hospital experience in the winter of 1974 - picture a hospital wardsman with the build of a gorilla, a young male patient about to have a bone graft operation, and nether regions being shaved with a cut throat razor! Not suggesting of course that you should use your knife to shave your scrotum

You sound redneck j/k,that is some serious sharp,i have several knives that are shaving sharp never tried to shave with em.............:)

I've done it lots of times, and I know ChapmanPreffered has an "Every Day Shaver" Spyderco. You mainly have to be careful of the tips, which is why I like the blunt tip on the "Every Day Shaver". It definately is nice to have a very polished edge, as well. When it comes to pocket knives ZDP-189 is one of the best choices for a very sharp, polished edge that will cleanly shave your face.
