I picked this one up from Shawn's table at the 2010 Knife Guild show.

52100, 5.5" blade and one of the nicest knives in hand I have experienced in this size. The thing is flawless....

That's a very nice knife - Sean's work is always exceptionally clean. That would be a handy piece to have along in a whole bunch of different circumstances.

Gundy...

I've always favored Shawn's M23 pattern,but after seeing this one I think I have a new favorite.

I have one question for you. I have a couple bowies with a tip grind similar to your McIntyre, where the tip gets pretty thin in the last inch or so. My Gordon and Dean are done like that, and both makers say their tips are plenty strong for any reasonable use for the knife. Is that your experience?

I am yet to use this knife (it was purchased to use, ill get there one day... :D ) and I asked Shawn the same question. He said that the knife was made to be used and that the tip was fine for anything I could put it through. I believe him but just to make sure, I ordered a larger version in 8-9" length of 1/4" thickness for heavier chores....( I did lend it out for a while), but got it back and wont let it go again....
I can not put this knife down...

Thanks for the comments...

I really like that piece, especially the slight recurve it has. Very smooth, I just looked him up and his prices are very reasonable, though I dont see that he has a website of his own.

Shawn's one of the best, and this one's just about perfect. Love the way he shaped the blade, then followed it with the quench line. That handle shape's out-a-sight,too.

That's a beautiful knife, the blade shape in particular is striking. Congrats!

Outstanding acquisition.

It is time for me to get after Shawn for another knife.

You guys do know that Shawn is our current Guild President don't you. His work and that of his mate Peter Del Raso is always well designed and faultlessly executed.

That sure is a beautiful knife that I would love to own. Is it more of a sports bowie? it almost reminds me of a hunter. Great work on this one. Great score.

Edited to correct the steel to 52100.

Jonathan, it sort of is like a sportsman's Bowie - good way to describe it.

It will be one of my main camp knives for general camp/kitchen chores etc. I did say I was going to use it....didn't I...

Yeah, this is sweet. I love the grain in the Micarta. Handle shape = superclean.

Nice wake-up call. :)
