I see several in the exchange and got me curious (I remember when they first came out  if I only knew). What was the last model of the SH's? Which is considered the best or most desirable able to collect?

Meeeh! I've never bought one of these. Why? Out of my league! :( But my birthday is in May! ;)

:D

But seriously, the ones I have tried out were sweet. I'd collect and use them all if I had the $$$.

Show offs! I only asked a question and you come and show alllllllllllllll of theseeeeee toys :grumpy:

:D

So the progression was Slotted, Corby type bolts and then Tube Fasteners?

No magnum options back then I guess. What about the clip style (upper tip) is there a generation for those? I remember that was the one I liked the most with a false edge.

MAN they look good!

Geez Wayne! Save some for the rest of us!!!

Now ain't that a little of the pot callin' the kettel black Aaron? :p :D
Me thinks you've got a few yourself. ;)

Nice rare SHBM ya got there too...
I'd say based on the clip point beveling, slotted bolts, and smooth handle,
you've got a RARE, early SHBM... probably one of the first sold.
It's definitely not from the regular production run.

Looks like the beveling on 2 of my pre-release. ;)

Mag grips would ruin the feeling between your hand and the knife. In fact it feels so good, there should be a hotel nearby...

SHBM Age
I have been studying SHBM lineage and have gone through the process.of trying to age them. the following is only for production run knives as the custom shop knives can come in any config, and I hope that Andre can verify this, along with SHSH masters Randucci and Mulder since I am sure the SHSHII went along the same handle changes. Enjoy:

97-98 SHBM with smooth handle slabs and smooth bolts or slotted bolts
these are the oldest of the SHBM's. Probably the first 50 -100 had these handles I am guessing. LE#37 had them and the 1 of 6 I use to have had them also but with slotted bolts.

97-98 SHBM with partially grooved handle slabs slotted screws
most of these were slotted screws but I have had a few with hollow rivets. Arguably the most desirable SHBM handle

97- 98 - SHBM with fully grooved handle slabs and slotted screws

98-99 SHBM with partially grooved handle and hollow rivets

99 - SHBM with fully grooved handle slabs and hollow rivets The most common SHBM handle.

mid 99 - SHBM with angle grooved micarta handles and hollow rivets this is near the end of the SHBM production run and were not very common. I have not see coated SHBM's with this handle but I have a few uncoated ones with this handle. Probably the rarest of all handles that I have noticed.

the end - SHBM with diamond quilted micarta handles like the E-handles.

There were some pics to go along with it... maybe he'll post them again.

I'm trying to remember the stats on mine. I've been told that the only way to tell for sure about the spot in the lineup yours is from is to have Jerry look at it himself. That's why I say mine is from the first 100 because the man told me that himself when he looked at it.

I keep saying this.

The very first Hollow rivet type of Handle fastener was sold at the Fall Y2Y Prep Show in Las Vegas in the fall of 1999.(it was on a Badger Attack, BubbaThud from this Forum(My Son Bought it and now has it back again)

As a Dealer I did not get any Hollow type fasteners till my 2nd shipment in Spring of 2000.

There are reasons for each type of handle Ranging from:

Oops, I forgot for a moment those are Jerry's tales to tell not mine.

There was over lap in the production of the last Straight Handles and the Ergos

Last batch of Straight Handles has the new Crinkle Finish and the precut to fit handle slabs.

Some of The Early Ergos have have the older Smooth Coat and a mix of precut to fit Handle grips that actually fit and ones that needed a little shaping after installation.

The Straight Handle that went out of production was the Badger Attack, I think that would be about the time that Progunner got a knife from me as recomended to him by the factory because they were out and I still had a few.

He Might remember just when that was.
