I thought I would share this info. I have not had too many SHBM's, but enough to draw a fair average. What I have noted is the following for around 25 or so SHBM's I have owned at one time or another (wish I still had them all). I took an average thickness of all of them.
The average thickness is as follows:
1. At ricaso just in front of handles = 0.260" this is the stated thickness
2. At midway point down the spine = 0.249" this is the true thickness where it counts.
3. At 1.75 inches from the tip = 0.220"
this gives you an idea of how the spine tapers to the point.
anyway, thought this might be interesting.
