Shearing bar stock

Has anyone done any shearing or had shearing done to carbon steel (annealed of coarse) I want a specific size and doubt that it is offered in our knife catalogs. I want 1/4"x1/4"x12" high carbon like maybe 1075 or 1084 or even 0-1. Something that welds nicely. I had a wild dream last night about a damascus pattern I must try.

All the machine shops here wont use their shear on any steel I bring in. They think it will ruin the cutter blades for some reason.
