Sheath, clip or just in-the-pocket

Sometimes, when I am too lazy to get my hands on another folder with a clip, I will just slip a knife into my pockets.
At other times, I will find one with a sheath and attach it to my belt.

It really depends on the occasion and where I am going. It simply won't do to have a knife in a sheath in certain places. People are apt to get the wrong ideas.

I normally go for knives which will not be "bulging" in my pockets. It can be cumbersome or people will get the wrong idea again.

So how do you carry your knives: waist, deep-in-the-pocket or clip-on?

Always clip on. Too much stuff floating around loose in my pockets--I'd never be able to find my knife if I didn't clip it.

Clip the larger knives - AFCK, BM 730, etc.
Slip the smaller knives into the pocket, no clip - BM 705, Native, Delica, SS Cricket.

clipping knife is the best way for me
to keep a knife in the easiest location
to reach with any hand, although a
carry my SAK just slipped in the front
pocket of my trousers, but SAK don't
have clips!
:D

I always clip my knives : it is the best way to carry them concealed (it is not always possible with a sheath) and to find them easily always at the same place ! :D

I have always clipped my large folders (usually an AFCK) to my pocket, and I carry a SAK loose in another pocket, but the more EDC stuff I seem to accumulate (carrying a pistol in my RFP usually precludes carrying a knife clipped there as well) the more I'm starting to think that maybe a good horizontal belt sheath worn in my strong side apendix position might be the ticket...hmmmmmmm...

Like Easyrider said...Clips are EVIL.
I carry either in the bottom of the pocket or in a belt pouch.

Clip when convenient. Pocket when dressed in any remote form of monkey-suit (as "fashion" today does not lend itself to those damned pocket clips). I like to be fluid.

I prefer clips. I do carry a small SAK without a clip off and on, but most of my knives have clips.

Clipped about 99% of the time in my right front pocket. Sometimes during the summer months I will use a cordura type, horizontal mounted sheath if I am wearing shorts and a t-shirt that is untucked and can conceal the fact I have a knife sheath. When this be the case I wear the knife on the left hand side towards the front.

The two knives I have though lend themselves to clip carry due to the clip being mounted high on the bolster and in the case of the Cuda MAXX the clip is the deep carry style of clip. One thing I really dislike on a knife is when the clip is mounted low on the knife and a 1/2 inch or more of knife sticks up and out of your pocket. People can't help but see this.

99.5% clipped to rear pocket.

Maybe 1 or 2 days of the year I will carry with clip in the front pocket. Sheath carry is too conspicuous, and pocket carry scares me.

I noticed everyone who carries a knife in the pocket doesn't do so with a linerlock... I can't imagine having a linerlock in my pocket, what with its weak closing tension...

Then again, I can't imagine pockets big enough to hold a 710 or 806. ;)

No clips. Just one more thing to snag. Just drop it in my pocket.
Today I'm carrying a Gerber Harsey Air Ranger II. Decent size knife. No problems.

Depends on the pants I am wearing and where I am going but I do find myself wanting to carry smaller folders in my pocket rather than clipped to my pocket. This is usually during the week while at work. On weekends, when in my jeans, I still rather carry a larger folder clipped to my RFP. If I have space, I will tuck a smaller blade in a pocket to go along with the larger blade.

Recently changed my EDC from a KIWI to a Black FRN Delica without the clip. The Delica is so light and thin it disappears in my pocket. Does a little better job of cutting up my lunch time apple than the KIWI did.
