Sheath Dulling Your Beckers?

Hello All,
Is there a back story I don't know on Beckers being dulled by the sheaths they come in? I feel slightly dumb asking, but I've seen it referenced to a few times. I was going to post the questions on the thread I read it on, but fate intervened and I was off doing something else a minute later. Now I can't remember where I read it. I haven't really been keeping track of if my Bk-11 or Bk-17 have been getting dull on their own, or not. I cut open enough boxes that it would probably be hard for me to tell if it's the cardboard or the sheath, and I tend to touch up all three of my knives at the same time anyway about once a week. (BK-11, BK-17, and a Spyderco Endura.)
Thanks.

Cliffnotes: There use to be complaints that the glass in the bk2 sheath could dull the knife. Ka-Bar addressed it and it is no longer an issue. Personally, I don't think it was ever a big issue in the first place. Now it is almost a joke, signifying a minor complaint about a great knife at a great value. I am sure someone will come along and provide you with more detail. Use the search function and you will see a sickening amount of posts about it.

I've never heard complaints about the 11 or 17 sheath dulling the blade however im sure it's not out of the realm of possibility if you make a habit of withdrawing the knife at such an angle as the edge drags along the sheath, check your technique 1st, it could be something as simple as that.

The bk2 was known for dulling edges, however this was easily remedied if one was handy enough to file down the (blade side) inner edge of the sheath.

The sheaths for the 11 & 14 are known to dull the knives, as well as the sheath for the BK2. Changes and improvements were made, but they do still cause dulling initially. After some time spent drawing and resheathing the knife eventually the dulling will lessen then eventually cease. This can be corrected with a small triangle file (or other type of long slender file) or hastened by drawing and resheathing your knife many, many times. My BK2 sheath has not caused any noticeable dulling of my BK2 in quite some time now, although I have had it for around 3 years and did work on the inner area responsible for the dulling a few different times with a file. If you have the ability to reset eyelets, you can take apart the sheath and fix it pretty easily without much in the way of tools.
