Now that I done hunted down a "as new" Camp Tramp", I 'd like to find 'er a suitably tough Cordura sheath....

Sista' Scrap Yard has 6" and 10" sheaths, but nothin' along the lines of the 7.5" that the Tramp needs...

Any sugestions on sources for a QUALITY cordura sheath...?

...she get's cold at night, and momma won't let 'er sleep with us

Thanks!

Get in touch with Dan at Semper Paratus Tactical. If you look up the word "quality" in the dictionary, you'll see a picture of one of his sheaths. He prices them very reasonably and they'll last forever. If you're thinking of getting a Spec Ops, I highly recommend you get one of his sheaths. For not too much more you get a fitted kydex liner and a HUGE pocket on the outside of the sheath to store stuff in. Definitely quality stuff .

CongRats on the Camp Tramp!! Its a great design. :)

I just got a "new" Camp Tramp and it doesn't fit in the Spec Ops Combat Master sheath--blade is too wide. Granted, I have not tried heating the kydex insert, (sheath is for my Chopweiler.)

Venice Will,

I posted same question over on the Swamp Rat forums and they recommended I try the Cordura sheath Scrap Yard makes for the Regulator.

Can be found here: http://shop.scrapyardknives.com/product.sc?productId=49&categoryId=5

I contacted Renee over at Scrap Yard and she said that theoretically, it should fit. (Regulator blade is thicker and just as long as Camp Tramp blade. Don't know how wide Regulator blade is.) I'm in need of a sheath for a Camp Tramp too, think I might pick one up!

Best,

The Regulator being quite a bit thicker and a lot less wide than the Camp Tramp its a stretch. But ya never know till you try, and the return policy is top notch.

Did the yard have a sheath available for the SOD? I'd think that would be a closer fit. Though I'd bet the SOD wasn't as wide as the CT.

leatherman,

I originally asked Renee if the Regulator sheath would fit an SOD and she replied:

"The sheath was made to fit the Regulator and the Regulator is just 1/2 inches longer in overall length than the SOD. It may be just a little bit big, but could work. Thank you."

Seeing as how the SOD and the Camp Tramp are similar in size, I would guess that the same applies to Camp Tramp. But you're right, I'll know only when I try.

Thanks,

I got a Camp Tramp sheath from River-8 for my SOD that looks like this and i love it!

Hopefully what I need to get a fire started, and shelter built (and some basic repairs)...

Make sure you check out Lost Mountain Iron Works. That's where my next sheath will be coming from.

Stay sharp,

I would expect the large Spec Ops to fit just fine. They work great for Ratweilers.

Paddling_man,

Did you have to modify kydex insert on Spec Ops to fit Ratweiler? I have Chopweiler and it fits like a glove in Spec Ops, but the Ratweiler, SOD and Camp Tramp are a hair wider than Chopweiler (1.84" vs. 1.75") so they don't fit. I read somewhere that if you have to cut kydex down the side to make room for Ratweiler.

Also, does anyone have experience with Blackhawk cordura sheaths? http://www.911tacticaldirect.com/blackhawk-airborne-deluxe-knife-sheath2.html
I've heard those used to be good sheaths.

or a Survival Sheath Systems sheath? http://survivalsheath.com/sheaths/index.htm
Best,

 + 1 on Semper Paratus Tactical. Excellent quality and great customer service from Dan.

The SpecOps long one fits the old Weiler perfectly but not the SOD. The tramp is not as thick as the SOD and I would argue it should fit. The Lost Mountain guys are swamped by their Busse offer and it will take some time before they can focus on "shorther" sheaths.

The one from River 8 is amazing, does he still produce them of was this a once off?

think if you ask him he will make one for you. one of the best kydex sheaths i have ever had
