Hey all, thought I'd post pics of a sheath I recently finished for my buddy AJ. Many of you probably know of him as well through here as he's a big fan of Spydies. Anyway, he asked me to make him a horizontaly carry sheath to be worn in the small of the back. He posed a few challenges for me in that he wanted it leather, with as much of the finger groove exposed as possible, and no retention strap. To accomplish these requests and aid in retention I sandwiched 5 rare earth magnets in the back of the sheath as well as wet molding the openning to grip a small portion of the finger grove. The knife can be inserted edge up or down, but I designed it to be carrried edge up so that the handle is angled slightly upward and it can be drawn with ease be inserting the tip of the thumb into the finger groove. I also did some carving and embossing to personalize it. Here are some pics...
