Let's say yougotta Gents folder that's too nice to mess up with a pocket clip, but you don't want it lying at the bottom of a pocket in a slip sheath and you don't want to belt carry it. One possible solution is a relatively thin sheath that has a clip attached so you have at least a part of the benefits of a clip without the insult of a having uglified your knife. But I must confess, I've never really seen a completely successful design of a sheath like this for a folder. Have you? Or is the idea dumb and doomed?

My only thought is that it being a thin sheath the knife isn't going to slide in a nd out easily. That means you'll porbably end up taking the sheath out of your pocket everytime like a slip sheath anyway. I'd rather jut have an engraved pocket clip like spyderco puts on some of their engraved knives.

Fix it right the first time, use Baling Wire !

Yeah, it's utility vs beauty. The solution I am looking for is to find a custom knife that has a clip:
- designed to make a knife prettier not uglier (I believe it is possible)

- a clip would match or go with my suit
texture/color.

Well, that's in the dreams for now.

Actually Tangus gave me a pretty nice sheath with a metal belt clip on it. He might have an idea of how to make a small one. Search his name and send him an email with the question. He engineered mine (and his) pretty well.

Thanks, ThomM. Exactly what I was hoping for. I'll search him out.

Don't use a sheath or a clip! All my folders, Balisongs and standard, are carried in pockets sewn into my regular pants pockets. Just slide the knife in the pocket of your choice in the position and height you want and sew around it. I just use big ole clumsy hand stitches and it works fine. No wear and tear on the clothes, no clip showing, no sheath on the the belt.

PROTECTOR,
Thats a pretty good idea! I've always wanted to do something similar, those cargo pockets were too big, tried to get my wife to sew a pocket on the side but she never seemed too interested and I'd just sew my fingers together if I used a machine and hand stitching for me is out, as cloth stitching for me looks realllllly ugly!

Butterfly knives, cool, glad to see others that like those knives as well!
