I got my new rivetsetter and I'm sooo happy with it. :p
Made this one for the martindale golok right away.

I believe that sometimes it can be very practical to add some of these rings. They make excellent attachementpoints for tekloks and beltloops, and can be used for threading some cord through..

Check it out:
First 2 pics are very crappy, but you'll get the idea

Not being funny here...but watch you don't cut through the leather inside the sheath on the narrow shaped section by the hilt with the larger end blade...if it catches...soak it and loosen the "form fitting" shape.

You won't be able to soak this one anymore :)
I understand your worry, but the bladshape and grind make this setup quite safe. The back of the sheath is flat.. The sheath is also stiff, but flexible enough to let the tip find it's way beyond the formed part, and a thin weld of lappleather will protect the area around the rings agains cuts.
It's not kydex, but it's much less vulnarable then it might seem. Maybe the new owner of the sheath will chime in later..

..and I forgot to say that it's halftanned leather, which, even with a hobbyknife, is hard to cut..

Cheers,
Martin

That's a really handsome piece of leather! Good work. It's hard sheathing blades that size (or maybe it's just my lack of patience!).

Really nice leather!

Coincidentally I just finished refinishing my Martindale Golok yesterday.
Thats probably my favorite machete right now.
I've been carrying it in a vinyl sheath that came with my Tramontina.
For the price of the Martindale i think they should at least provide some kind of sheath.

Match up the rivets with a smaller sheath and they are perfect for lacing on a piggyback.
