I recently acquired a Jackhammer and it instantly became one of my favorite knives. Dunno exactly what it is about this knife, but it feels great in my hand, looks wicked and is now sharp has hell. I cleaned up the somewhat tarnished finish and its now ready for action.

Here is the exact version I have:

Will a Spec Ops sheath fit? I know it can't be any wider than the TG, so I would guess it would be fine.

I know I could get a custom sheath, but I am going to Alaska next month and need to have this badboy ready.

Hey Bro, yea a Spec-Ops will work!!! Just need to warm the liner and press it to shape. I have done several for my SJTACs, BATACs, SFNOs and TBs. Just be patient and it will come out good. I have taken the liner out and redrill the part that sticks past the factory hole which causes more liner to stick up out of the sheath body. This works good now for a knife like the TAC series hilt shape cause you can use a dremel and shape the liner to fit the TAC hilt. See the TB on the right. Might need to enlarge the pic but you'll get the idea.

Oh, and where are you going up here???

I am going to do my usual stay in Girdwood and hike the surrounding area thing. Crow Pass/Creek one day, Winter Creek another, may head further North to see whats around there. I have been to Wasilla, but didn't know of anything to check out really. I did see tons of Palin lookalikes though :)

If you can recommend any other one day hikes for intermediate hikers, I am all ears.

The problem you are going to run into now is the amount of snow even in the low country. Anchorage is only 6" away from setting the all time high snow fall record for here. It has been unreal this year:eek:. Mulder does a lot of hiking and you might want to drop him a PM. I will PM you from here as well! One thing to watch out for is the moose. They take the path of least resistance and right now they will charge anything they deem a threat. Another words they get down in the roadways, trails train tracks and they want move cause of the deep snow. We are also having one of the highest moose die offs this year again cause of the snow. If you meet one on a trail you best start backing up, don't just stand there watching. TRUST ME, 800-1000# on the hoof is a lot of woop-a-- with attitude. Dog mushers try to get away cause the moose will get tied up in the leads and stomp the dogs to death. Even though you're planning the trip next month, at elevation & up the trails WILL be messy and avalance danger is EXTREMELY HIGH. Drop me a line when you show up if you have time.

Moose, shmoose, I am packing a few Busse's and a .444 lever action!!

In all seriousness, thanks for the info. I had no idea it was that bad right now. We are planning to come out April 24th and stay for a week. We will be at Alyeska, so if the trails are bad, we can just take short excursions and hang out at the resort. I love the food and beer in Alaska, I will stay busy and simultaneously relaxed. Just being there is enough for me.

Sounds like it will be a great trip. I can't wait to get back to Alaska. You will have to post pics when you get back.

This will be my fourth time in the last 18 months. I am hoping to be living there in the next year or so. I always take tons of pics, but this will be my first trip with Busse knives in my posession. I hope to get plenty pics of them being used thoroughly minus batoning. I have an axe for that :)

Has anyone ever had a run-in with a bear? I know some of the natives were carrying .44 magnums, and the .500 seems to be popular with the fisherman. I have a .44 desert eagle, but I would turn that gun on myself and eat the bullet instead of trusting it to cycle while a bear is charging.

That's why most everyone I know up here carry wheel guns. Redhawk,S-Redhawk, Casull, .500 S&W etc. I carry a Glock or Beretta when I'm around 2-legged varmints but most of the time it's the wheels I'm counting on in the bush. Better than a handgun though is the 12ga., .444,.45-70, 450 Express, in levers.

Yeah, I have a .444 and my bro has a .45-70. We are both decent shots, but I have never had to fire in a life and death situation. Neither of those guns has ever given us a problem. My other option is a Kimber 1911 .460 conversion I have. I have never fired it though and Kimber's take forever to break-in. That thing jammed all the time with the .45 assembly until about 200 shots.

I may look at a wheel gun again. I have three right now, a .22, .357mag and .45LC, but they are all cowboy action. They are fun and accurate, but not enough power.

Sounds like a great time. I hope to make it that far north some day. To answer your original question, yes the spec ops sheath will work great for a jack hammer.
