It's going to live mostly in the kydex but something compells me to make a leather sheath for my knives. Here it is. I kind of goofed up my sort of "reverse reptile" pattern but it still looks pretty good...to me. Veg tanned with may coats of Obenhauf's and Sno-Seal forced in with heat.

Now I'm not a huge fan of leather but that is some damn fine work there. Good job.

Instead of "reverse reptile" it looks more like a 'multiple deer track" type of pattern. Doesn't really matter - it looks just great. Functional, too. Good work.

7 layers of leather to accommodate that Fat Boy:eek:

very nice work..reminded me of "Tracks" too

Yep...seven layers. A new record for me. Couldn't see putting that knife in a three-layer job. I am a little OCD and a) a two layer welt was a little tight for my liking, and b) the idea of the edge lining up with where the two came together bugged me (thats the OCD part). In hindsight, I may have been better off with just a two layer welt as the knife is now...go figure...a little too loose for my liking.

Regardless, retention is good...the strap is tight. I decided to put it down low and I am glad I did. The strap is removable so if it gets cut I can easily fix it.

I like the deer track thing. The idea was to create an organic looking pattern with some geometric sensibility. I have a new tool to create a dragon scale pattern which is in fact a variation on a basket weave.

Thanks for the comments.
