Sheath for my Santoku

I've been dabbling in knifemaking recently and got a forge a couple weeks ago.

My first forged knife is a Santoku styled kitchen knife for my mother and I just finished the protective sheath. I used a rare earth magnet for retention.

As my parents live in Texas they haven't actually seen my work yet so I am excited to give them this.

That's a great looking set....Mom will be proud!

How long did you apprentice with Mr. Long??;)

Ray, what you're seeing is Stuart's natural ability. Just a few emails and a little tip here and there is the extent of his "apprenticeship". The guy is just plain good all on his own!

Yeah I know it's pretty much Paul's style but I can only title so many threads with "Paul Long style sheath...again." :p

Stuart is developing is own style very nicely. That he paid attention to Paul when they made contact is obvious. That he has natural talent is also obvious. Welcome to an addiction that will be difficult to recover from, Stuart. ---Sandy---

Stuart and his family had a BBQ over at our place yesterday, he brought this beauty over for show and tell. I tried to hide it and claim it was lost, but Stu was wise to my antics !
As always, great work Stu !
Happy 4th !

oh my gosh! It's very very good job
I love Paul Long style and yes, I envy you.
Why I don't live in Texas?! :(

But seriously, your parents will be so happy and proud (I would be).
Best regards
Sly

You know I'm only pulling your chain Stuart.....you're work is "out ________standing" and we Marines don't give higher compliments than that!

Thanks Sly. I hope to visit Paul one day if I ever make it down to Texas again.

Thanks Ray... ;)
