Looking for a custom/after-market sheath for my San Mai Tail Master.
Leather or Kydex or Nylon. Pocket will be a must. Kydex (pancake) of course I can attach something.
Any suggestions appreciated.

I could't find Pelozi Bros either. And Harry Savage hasn't returned my email.
Looking like the odds of finding a good leather sheath are not very good now.
Maybe it's cause the Trail Master has been around for a long time and Kydex has
become so popular.
I'll look into Kydex alternatives, including Black Bear. Although Leather is my first choice.

If you're handy, you can make a Kydex sheath. I've made several I thought it would be a hard job but it's really very simple. Something to look into I guess. And trust me I'm no Craftsman. But you can get the supplies at knifekits.com.

Could check with some of the makers here... cpirtle cpirtle and duramax duramax are two that come to mind

Keep in mind a lot of the Kydex is molded to the flat ground trail master and may not fit the full convex grind of the san mai TM

Very true. Could scratch up the softer sides too, if that’s a concern.

That's a good point. I know that the Cold Steel OEM Secure-Ex sheath for the flat grind TMs require some modification at the mouth to fit
the San Mai TM. So I suppose it makes sense to question whether any of these custom kydex sheaths for TMS will fit the SM TM perfectly.
This is especially true of the kydex sheaths that fit the blade profile tightly.
From this perspective I tend to think that a Leather sheath would not have such a problem.

My main goal is to have a sheath pocket, of a size that can hold my small mutlitool. Unfortunately seems every leather maker only accomodates a stone, which is too small.
In this regard, I may have no choice but to go kydex.

As a side note, if I am unable to find a solution, I am actually considering modifying my existing Nylon/Cordura SM TM sheath to accommodate a pocket.
Procedurally I would need to create four holes along the edges, supported by tube grommets. The hole position would have to be just outside the position
of the blade when the knife is inserted. But, even assuming this can be done successfully, I am not certain whether I should be modifying a sheath that, from what I can tell, can not be replaced. I remember years ago CS made that replacement sheath available for purchase. But now I am not sure if GSM/CS even offe4r replacement sheaths for any of their models.

KenHash, I'm in the same boat as you except I made my own kydex sheath. If you don't find anyone, message me as my TM won't be in my collection next month and I put the kydex aside.

Savage Sheaths took about a week or so to answer my email last time. He is a one man operation and was backed up last time I ordered from him.

This was about 4 months ago.

Thanks all. After considerable twisting and turning at nights (lol), I eventually chose to go Kydex with Tek-Lok.
I had originally thought that a leather sheath would be easy to obtain but it isn't anymore.
I know Harry Savage is a one man show (I've bought 3-4 sheaths from him in the past and I still strongly recommend his work) but I hope he is just
very busy and otherwise ok. This inability to quickly find a leather sheath has forced me to reconsider the
features that I really wanted for my "user" TM. One would be the ability to carry my TM in my knapsack and just
clip it onto my belt when got to the woods, instead of possibly dropping my pants undoing my belt.
I should get the sheath in a month or so, so I'll try to remember to post pics/review.

There is a guy with an etsy store that makes really nice kydex sheaths for a huge number of knives. I have bought several and all have been fantastic. I will loom for a link tomorrow.

Many of the leather sheaths have metal rivets spaced to allow for tek-loc or dangler loops. I would reach out to a few on the forum and see what they say. Great leather is not cheap, but you get what you pay for. I love kydex for durability, use in wet/snow, and to carry in multiple positions, but leather always just feels and looks good.

Search for Randy's Knives and Kydex on Ebay. He has what you need. Note, he general has several options so check them all. He is my first choice for all my sheaths.

Check with Ahearn leather on blade Forum he is Duramax. I just got a leather sheath made by him for a Busse TGLB and it is very high quality. I am going to see if I can get him to make me a leather sheath or two for a Cold Steel Master Tanto.

Randy's Knives and Kydex that Chris_Texas mentioned looks great, better than what I made. :D
